Description

In school we had to do a presentations in front of our parents. We had the theme: The white rose. "Die weiße Rose" how it is called in geramany, was an organisation against the NAZIs. They distributed leaflets. Sadly they have been murdered. We also had to make a cover sheet and I painted this. The organisation was realy great and you should inform yourself about them.

This seems like a symbol of this organization you mentioned in the description above. Now the choice of watercolor is nice as it usually represents fluid strokes and the theme of liquids portrayed in the pic. Which means that the blood dripping from the rose petals is more emphasized by the art style. The "White Rose" organization seems to represent the heroic attempt to fight back against the Nazis, though sadly these people were killed doing so. In the Japanese culture, the white rose represents innocence while in the Western culture, it symbolizes happiness in love. Perhaps this painting of the White Rose may also represent innocent and brave lives while the blood dripping from the petals represents the death of these brave souls. Somehow this can also make a person sad as it makes them realize that many people in history have oppressed and killed because of one person having ambitions too extreme.

Now to me this is one of many possible symbols to represent the people's sacrifice and efforts to save a nation and be free from a crazy dictator's ambition. Strange, but the blood dripping from the rose seems to also represent either the white rose being tainted by red or washing away the stains left by the disparities of of a cruel event in history only to finally be set free. But I suppose that's just me. This is a great piece that symbolizes lives taken by the Nazis, sad yes, though you seem to put in a good effort. A few more details could be added, but overall a good pic. Good job.
